Chelsea have reservations over AC Milan's asking price for goalkeeper Mike Maignan with the Rossoneri demanding £25million, football.london understands.
The Blues made an approach to Milan earlier this week about signing the 29-year-old shot-stopper but believe the Italian club are asking for too much given he has just 12 months remaining on his contract at the San Siro. Maignan is considered one of the top goalkeepers in European football but Chelsea are yet to make an offer because of their concerns over the price.
Maignan remains under consideration by the club, football.london understands, but better value needs to be found. Chelsea are not trying to force Robert Sanchez out of the club either after the Spanish goalkeeper finished the 2024/25 season well.
Sanchez came under the microscope for parts of the campaign - and was even taken out of the side for four straight Premier League matches - but has been impressive in recent matches for the Blues. Filip Jorgensen played all but one of Chelsea's Conference League games but remains the second-choice goalkeeper for Enzo Maresca.
The future of Djordje Petrovic remains uncertain with the Serbian shot-stopper flourishing during his season-long loan at Strasbourg. Petrovic won the French club's Player of the Season award for his efforts over the course of the campaign and football.london understands he will not settle for anything less than first team football next term.
Elsewhere, Chelsea have high hopes for incoming goalkeeper Mike Penders but the 19-year-old could be loaned out in order to aid his development and progression. While many at the club feel as if Penders is already ready for Premier League football, a loan elsewhere would see him receive more regular minutes and experience.
