Bryan Mbeumo of Brentford wants a substantial wage increase to move to Manchester United
Bryan Mbeumo has reportedly informed Manchester United that he wants his wages to increase more than fourfold to £250,000 per week if he is to transfer to Old Trafford this summer.
The 25 year old Cameroon star has been identified by United as their next key signing after finalising a deal for Matheus Cunha from Wolves. Despite interest from Arsenal and Newcastle, Mbeumo has indicated that he would prefer to join United fter an exceptional season with Brentford where he scored over 20 goals in the Premier League for the first time.
United are expected to approach Brentford soon to negotiate a deal for the versatile forward, who is valued by the London club at over £60million. However, Mbeumo's demand for a substantial wage increase means that securing the Bees' star player will not be easy.
As initially revealed by The Times, Mbeumo currently earns £50,000 per week at Brentford. He allegdly wants to increase this fivefold if he transfers to Old Trafford.
If United agree to these terms, Mbeumo would immediately become one of the club's highest earners during a transfer window in which the club are looking to offload two of their most well-paid players - Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho.

Mbeumo is in the final year of his contract in west London and, although Brentford have an option to extend it, there is a general acceptance that he is likely to leave after another outstanding season in red and white. Much like Cunha, Mbeumo is seen as a ready-made asset for United as a proven talent in the Premier League.
After finishing 15th in the Premier League last season - United's worst result in 50 years - the club are gearing up for a serious revamp of Ruben Amorim's squad.
Mbeumo's goal-scoring exploits were among the league's highest last term, with only Mohamed Salah, Erling Haaland and Alexander Isak netting more than his impressive tally of 20. By comparison, Bruno Fernandes and Amad led the scoring for United in the league, each with eight goals.
While Brentford are open to the idea of selling Mbeumo during the summer transfer window, their head coach Thomas Frank has insisted they won't let him go cheaply.
"It is clear that if he is to be sold, it must be for a nice, nice amount," Frank remarked recently. "It is a lot. Mucho. Really a lot.
"How many wingers score 20 goals for a mid-table club? And then with seven assists plus his work ethic. And his character. All these things mean that he has a lot - so he is a good player."
