Adidas' attempt to recreate a classic Manchester United strip for the 2025/26 season has not gone down well with supporters, who have slammed the black and yellow kit

Manchester United have hit rock bottom after ending a miserable season – and now their leaked new kit is being slammed by fans. United ended their 2024/25 campaign 15th in the Premier League and without any European football to look forward to after tasting defeat in the Europa League final.
Ruben Amorim’s side then added some more embarrassment by losing to an ASEAN All-Stars side in Kuala Lumpur during an all-advised post-season tour.
The atmosphere around the club hasn’t been helped by Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s job-cutting crusade ahead of a summer transfer window which could see a huge number of players leave.
To make matters worse, United’s kits for the upcoming 2025/26 campaign have been leaked on social media. Kit manufacturer Adidas have created a third kit comprised of black, yellow and blue, which – as is the way these days – harks back to happier times.
The apparent third strip that Amorim’s players will be wearing next season is an attempt to recall the era of Eric Cantona and co from 1993 to 1995.

The new version doesn’t have a collar and has Snapdragon as the front-of-shirt sponsor, but it is a close copy of the original Umbro version.
Needless to say, it hasn’t gone down well with all United fans. “The worst shirt I’ve ever seen, couldn’t pay me to wear it,” one furious supporter wrote on social media.
“Third shirt for what? We ain’t in Europe,” another pointed out. “United slowly losing its identity,” a third wrote, while another simply concluded: “F****** ugly.”

However, it wasn’t all bad, with some fans liking the retro throwback. “This is so so good,” one wrote. “Is this legit!? Looks class,” another added. Another wrote: “Monochrome badge brings it down to a 9/10 rather than a 10/10.”
The leaked home shirt looks pretty straightforward: a red number with black and white touches, while the away shirt is a bold all-white effort.
It will be some time until fans see players wearing them, with United taking a not-so well-earned break after the tour of Malaysia and Hong Kong. The club are not involved in this summer’s Club World Cup, so will take some time off before reconvening for pre-season.

United begin their pre-season against Leeds in Stockholm on July 19 before flying over to the Untied States for games against West Ham, Bournemouth and Everton. They then return to Old Trafford to play Fiorentina on August 9 before the Premier League begins again on August 16.
What’s for certain is that it will be a dramatically different United squad next season, with the club overhauling things in the transfer window. Matheus Cunha is set to be the first arrival of the summer window after United agreed to pay Wolves his £62.5million release clause, while Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo is another target.
