While the first-round selection of star Texas wide receiver Matthew Golden has garnered the most headlines, the Packers made an underrated selection in the third round with TCU wide receiver Savion Williams.
Green Bay fans need to keep their eyes on him this summer and as the season progresses.
Savion Williams Can Do It All
-----------------------------
Simply put, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur and Co. drafted a player in Williams who can do everything and more from the wide receiver position.
He can run every route, force missed tackles, create space between himself and defenders, and he can make contested catches in key moments.
While at TCU, he also proved that he could take snaps at running back.
In his final season playing for the Horned Frogs, he caught 60 passes for 611 yards and six touchdowns while running the ball 51 times for 322 yards and six touchdowns.
> Savion Williams is an INSANE athlete.
>
> Led all WRs with 43 total missed tackles forced (next best was 32!!) while taking snaps at RB and WR.
>
> Verified at 6’4, 220lbs with a 73.5% career contested catch rate. Projected to run 4.4s with a 40+ inch vertical. Drops are a concern. [pic.twitter.com/gMvHLT3ZeN](https://t.co/gMvHLT3ZeN)

If LaFleur and Packers offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich are looking to get even more creative offensively, look for Williams to do more than just catch passes as a backup wide receiver.
This Green Bay offense is built on togetherness, and every player performing their duties on every single play perfectly.
Williams is going to be a key cog in the wheel on offense this season.
Savion Williams Should Remind Packer Fans of Deebo Samuel
---------------------------------------------------------
The Packers have seen an awful lot of former San Francisco 49ers and current Washington Commanders star wide receiver Deebo Samuel over the years.
Williams’s skill set is very similar to Samuel’s, especially if you look at the former Niner’s entire body of work.
Samuel, a former All-Pro, has proven through the first six seasons of his career that he is capable of doing everything on offense.
He can both catch (77 receptions for 1,405 yards and six touchdowns back in 2021) and run (59 rushes for 365 yards and eight touchdowns back in 2021).
Plus, his ability to make people miss in the open field is a bonus.
It is hard to say if Williams could eclipse 1,400 receiving yards and come close to 400 rushing yards as a young player on a team with a deep receiving core.
But, he certainly has the ability to be a dangerous gadget player, much like Samuel was out in the Bay Area for years.
