Aston Villa’s interest in Eintracht Frankfurt’s Fares Chaibi has caused ‘tension and uncertainty’ at the German club.
That’s according to Frankfurter Rundschau, who cover the situation around the attacking midfielder after Aston Villa were linked with a move earlier this week.
Reports at the beginning of the month in Italy stated Aston Villa are looking at the 22-year-old as they work to strengthen this summer.
Rundschau pick up on that today and explain it would be ‘surprising’ to see Chaibi move this summer after a mixed season at Frankfurt in which he was mostly used as a substitute.
They would like to stick with the midfielder but given the potential ‘financial incentives’, they would consider a sale. Aston Villa, a Premier League team who are seen as having money to spend, can offer that.
The move would have ‘sporting and financial implications’ for Chaibi. He would undoubtedly receive better contract terms in England, but Frankfurt can offer Champions League football while Aston Villa are only in the Europa League. That ‘sporting limitation’ could be a decisive factor.
