There will be a lot in the US that’s familiar to Guardiola and his squad, with the Blues heading west for four pre-season tours since the Catalan took charge in 2016.
Here we’ll run through those previous visits…
2017
City began with a 2-0 defeat to Manchester United in Houston as goals from Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford secured a win for the Reds in the NRG Stadium.
Six days later the Blues bounced back in style to thrash Real Madrid 4-1 in Los Angeles.
After a goalless first 45, City scored through Nicolas Otamendi, Raheem Sterling, John Stones, and Brahim Diaz before Oscar pulled one back in front of more than 93,000 at the LA Memorial Coliseum.

Three days later, City finished their US adventure by beating Spurs 3-0 in Nashville, with Stones, Sterling, and Diaz all on target for the second game running as we prepared for what would be the ‘Centurions’ campaign.
2018
In July 2018, City returned to North America for three more matches.
The tour began at Soldier Field in Chicago with a 1-0 defeat to Borussia Dortmund, courtesy of Mario Gotze’s 28th-minute penalty.
Five days later, City took on Liverpool at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

The Blues took the lead through Leroy Sane on 57 minutes, but Jurgen Klopp’s side recovered with an equaliser from Mo Salah on 63 minutes and a Sadio Mane winner from the penalty spot four minutes into added time giving the Merseysiders a 2-1 win.
The final match of the tour looked to be heading for defeat, too, as City went 2-0 down inside 24 minutes to Bayern Munich at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.
But a thrilling fightback saw Bernardo score in first-half added time to halve the deficit, then Lukas Nmecha levelled on 51 before Bernardo scored again on 70 to secure a 3-2 victory for the Premier League champions.

2022
The 2022 US tour was shorter than our previous visits and took in just a couple of games.
First up was a 2-1 win over Mexican side Club America at the NRG Stadium in Houston – Kevin De Bruyne scoring his first goals on American soil for the Blues on 30 and 45 minutes.

And more than 78,000 then watched City beat Bayern Munich 1-0 at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, with Erling Haaland scoring his first goal in sky blue to settle the game.
2024
A four-game, 11-day epic made up the start of the 2024/25 match programme. City took a mixed squad, owing to Euro 2024 finishing earlier in the summer.
First, we were on the wrong side of a seven-goal thriller with Celtic in North Carolina with the Bhoys much further along in their preparation.
Oscar Bobb, Maximo Perrone and Erling Haaland scored in that one.
Another entertaining clash followed at New York’s Yankee Stadium, with AC Milan edging us out 3-2. Haaland and James McAtee were our scorers.
A 2-2 draw with Barcelona in Orlando came next, with Nico O’Reilly and Jack Grealish our scorers then.

Pep: FIFA Club World Cup offers us all an exciting new challenge
We wrapped it all up by beating Chelsea 4-2 with Haaland giving a glimpse of the early season form that was to follow by scoring a hat-trick.
