Good morning, Cleveland Browns fans!
The Cleveland Browns taketh. The Cleveland Browns giveth away.
When it comes to money, the Browns spend extravagantly, currently generating a gigantic complex in Berea and aiming for (with the help of Ohio politicians) a multi-billion-dollar dome complex in Brook Park. The roster of coaches and support staff is gigantic, and they spend more on their roster than any other team in the NFL.
For a minuscule fraction of the money spent on players who went 3-14 in 2024, I estimate 0.03%, I could build the ultimate Cleveland Browns website for fans, with control over the tech stack, the latest in forum technology, and adequately compensate the best writers.
While Jimmy Haslam's dreams are sketched in concrete, my dream remains distant, the victim of the team's ineptitude over the past 20+ years and the decay in fan enthusiasm under their watch. Talking with other publishers and those responsible for Browns sites and publications, the story is always the same: the team's sheer incompetance has crippled their chance for success. The decision to place three years of Deshaun Watson and no draft picks to follow twenty years of largely embarrassing results on the field has been devastating. Just yesterday, I talked to an old friend who gave up on the Browns due to Watson.
After nearly thirty years of doing this - my first Browns-oriented website appeared in April 1996 - I still love the Cleveland Browns. I love their history, their dedicated fans, and what they mean to the community that has been my home since I was in elementary school. However, part of me regrets my association with the team, due to their peculiar blend of arrogance and failure, and what it has done to my simple ambitions. I am still trying to express my love for the unlovable.
But, like the devoted fans who fill our forums, we'll keep plugging along, hoping for better days ahead, saying goodbye to friends as they drop away from their Browns fandom. Hope always springs anew, and each new season brings the possibility of a turnaround.
Maybe, somewhere in a passel of quarterbacks, lies an answer. Perhaps Andrew Berry and Kevin Stefanski are as capable as their advocates hope they are. Maybe Jimmy Haslam's success at paving over plots of land extends, as he has learned more about being an owner, to creating something that fans can embrace.
Here we go. Another training camp beckons in the coming weeks, and with it, hope springs anew.
THE DAILY SHEDEUR: With last week's one-day glimpse at OTAs failing to provide a week's worth of news, attention turns again to Shedeur's draft slide to his fifth-round landing spot with the Browns.
DEVIN BUSH IN COURT
#Browns LB and former #Steelers first-round pick Devin Bush appeared in court today, and waived his right to a preliminary hearing on domestic violence charges stemming from a May incident at his home in Bell Acres.
He is next due in court for a formal arraignment on July 18.

OHIO SENATE GIVES AWAY MONEY

Here are a few stories on yesterday's big news: the Ohio Senate is trying to allocate $600 million to the Browns so they can build the domed stadium at the heart of Jimmyworld. What happens is that the politicians always try to make the giveaways to the financially capable look painless by not extracting the money from everyday taxpayers. Therefore, the pain will be focused on gamblers via a betting tax, tourists via hotel taxes, cigarette smokers via "sin taxes", or taken from a large pool of money for "unclaimed funds". This makes the building of a lavish sports complex seem like it's not coming from our pockets.
We'll continue to present the stories on this, but I've considered the outcome inevitable for the better part of a year: Haslam will get his money, politicians will posture, the dome will be built, there will be cost overruns, and gala openings and such. For those who like domed stadiums, I'm sure this is good news. For those of us more interested in attending games affordably, I'm not sure the news is as good.

GREG NEWSOME Browns cornerback Greg Newsome is getting some attention. Bleacher Report thinks that he should be traded while the player himself is full of optimism once more:
