William Osula is in an interesting position at Newcastle United.
Osula arrived at Newcastle United last summer from Sheffield United and started only three times during the 2024/25 campaign, scoring two goals while registering two assists.
Still, Newcastle are excited about Osula’s potential. While the idea of a relatively untested 21-year-old serving as Alexander Isak’s main back-up next season is a concern, the club clearly rate the Dane.
Team captain Bruno Guimaraes has been helping Osula settle into life in the Premier League and he now looks set to stay at St James’ Park. Guimaraes sits next to the forward in the home dressing room.
There has, however, been interest in the striker and he’s keen for more first-team football.

According to The Chronicle, Osula is keen to play on a more regular basis.
Eddie Howe believes Osula is “unpredictable”, which can be both a good thing and a bad thing. At some point, they’ll need to work out a way to polish his performances.
Still, they obviously believe there’s a talent there.

The report adds that Newcastle have been listening to enquiries from Championship clubs but have decided to reject all loan offers. Austrian giants Sturm Graz were keen on a move in January but saw their interest rejected.
It’s claimed that Newcastle see Osula’s time at the club as a gradual process and that there is a plan in place for his development with them.
Eddie Howe’s hint about a major change for William Osula
Brought to the club as a striker, the player could soon be set for a fairly big change.
Indeed, Howe has claimed Osula could change positions and become a winger instead, having been impressed with his performance in that role when playing against Ipswich in May.
That’s interesting to hear, but it does little to fix Newcastle’s striking problem.
Isak remains the only convincing choice up front and the Sweden star simply cannot be expected to start every single game, particularly with an increased schedule to come next season.
At some point, Osula may look like a bargain. Right now, however, Newcastle need more reliable depth.
