Report: Wolves may have already found their replacement for Matt Hobbs, Vitor Pereira knows him …

Wolves are planning to restructure their football operations this summer, with Vitor Pereira overseeing some important changes.

It was revealed that Matt Hobbs is likely to leave Wolves as part of that restructuring, with Matt Jackson to lead recruitment.

Hobbs joined Wolves as a sporting director in November 2022 and has overseen some important transfers in the club’s recent history, including the £15 million swoop for midfielder Joao Gomes.

But with some key changes happening at the top, Wolves fans are excited about Jorge Mendes returning to form the club’s recruitment structure this summer after his previous success.

Mendes was responsible for bringing a raft of quality Portuguese players through the door at Molineux during their golden era, and now, he could be joined by one of Vitor Pereira’s former colleagues.

Wolves are in talks with Domenico Teti to become the club’s technical director

As highlighted by Johnny Phillips, Pereira wants to ‘maximise his own relationships within global football’ to accelerate their chances of enjoying a successful transfer window.

Now, BBC Sport have reported that Wolves are in talks with former Sampdoria technical director Domenico Teti about taking a top position at the club.

Teti has emerged as a serious candidate for the role after previously working alongside Pereira during his time at Al Shabab.

It is said that ‘discussions are underway’ and are understood to be ‘progressing positively’, with Wolves yet to strike a full agreement. That being said, a deal is subject to a successful visa application, which is reportedly ‘close’.

With the Italian possibly arriving swiftly, Hobbs has been pushed ever closer to the exit door, in what is going to be the start of a new era at Molineux.

Teti’s first mission at Wolves is simple

Teti left his position as sporting director in Al Shabab, and his job title at Wolves is thought to be a ‘technical director’ instead.

Either way, the 48-year-old will be responsible for carrying out a successful transfer strategy, and with the help of Mendes, his first mission will be to source a replacement for Matheus Cunha.

Cunha, who joined Manchester United officially on Sunday, scored 17 goals in all competitions last term and was largely responsible for them staying in the top-flight.

As it stands, Wolves have looked at Yuri Alberto as a possible target and Leicester City’s Bilal El Khannouss, but a bid for neither has been lodged.

However, with Teti poised to join the club, his biggest test this summer will be signing an attacking midfielder who can produce similar magic to Cunha.
