Manchester United’s serene transfer window had a wrench thrown into it with Jadon Sancho’s return and the player has betrayed his own ‘iconic’ comment in the process.
Nobody mistakes Jadon Sancho for the epitome of professionalism after his stint at Manchester United anyway but he’s just proven to be indecisive as well.
When Sancho joined Chelsea, the move was widely seen as a poetic one that would finally see the player flourish closer to home.
However, not only did he fail to set the standards at Chelsea, but his last act with the club betrayed everything he claimed he stood for when he made the move.

Jadon Sancho betrays his words with Chelsea decision
For Man Utd fans, it’s fun to dunk on Sancho and say that Chelsea didn’t want to keep him to the extent that they’d pay United to avoid buying him.
However, the reality is that Chelsea were fine with Sancho’s performances, but the agreement broke down on personal terms.
Chelsea reportedly wanted Sancho to take a pay cut that would slash his wages to almost half of what he was earning at Man Utd.
Now, Sancho is well within his rights of wanting to see out a contract signed by all parties at Old Trafford, but in the process, he will have to bear the brunt of people calling him a hypocrite.

That is because, by his own admission, he was finally joining an “iconic” club at a place where he grew up.
When Sancho joined Chelsea, he said (via PL’s official website): “London is where I grew up and I’m happy to be back. It’s been a bit crazy. Chelsea is iconic.
“My idols growing up were Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard and now I have the opportunity to play for this club like them. It’s a great feeling.”
Clearly, Sancho’s feelings towards this iconic club could be bought for around £100k/week, the difference in wages he rejected from Chelsea.
Sancho’s motivation makes Man Utd transfer difficult
The stark difference between Bruno Fernandes and Jadon Sancho’s approach to wages makes it clear that United have a difficult player on their hands.
He has clearly realised that the contract he currently has at United is never coming back to him, so poor has been his form, that he’s determined to see it out.
While he can’t be blamed for honouring a legal document, he does become fair game to question his motivation.
That makes United exploring a transfer for him extremely difficult because, by the same measure, he’s likely been advised to see out his United contract and seek a big signing bonus as a free agent.
Of course, how likely that remains to be seen considering he’s sabotaged his own chances of earning more long-term by impressing at a settled club like Chelsea in favour of bleeding out United for another year.
Sancho will not be a popular man currently at either club.
