Florian Wirtz’s Liverpool transfer has been the story that has dominated most headlines over the last few weeks.
The Anfield outfit have managed to fend off Manchester City and Bayern Munich to get their man, with everything but the cost of the transfer now being agreed upon.
Wirtz only sees a future with Liverpool after Arne Slot reached out and explained how and where he’d fit into his squad; however, a bid worth £109million was recently rejected by Bayer Leverkusen.

Even though Liverpool didn’t want the transfer saga to drag on for all that long, fans are starting to get itchy feet as no fresh news has been shared regarding the move; that is, until now.
David Lynch believes Florian Wirtz’s Liverpool medical could happen while he’s on international duty
Indeed, the Bundesliga season is now over, but with international duty set to take place over the next week or so for most players, some moves may well be delayed.
Julian Nagelsmann has said that Wirtz will be playing for Germany in their game against Portugal on Wednesday evening, which could give Liverpool fans their first taste of the player they’re getting.
Ahead of the game, a new update has emerged from David Lynch regarding when Wirtz’s medical for his Liverpool move could take place.
“It’s just about coming to an agreement with Bayer Leverkusen [over the fee],” he said via the Sport Mole YouTube Channel.

“Big optimism that will get sorted imminently, and I think that the expectation is that it will be done before this initial window closes.”
Later in the interview, Lynch revisited the topic and added: “I think that [the deal] is something that can be done during international duty.
“Federations are usually very accommodating in terms of that, they don’t want it to disrupt their preparations, so Liverpool have got to be very sensitive around that and make sure they’re not getting in the way.
“But, there’s enough time in between training and all those things to get a medical done.”
Liverpool could be unstoppable next season
With the transfer of Wirtz now close to being confirmed, there is no telling what levels Liverpool could reach next season.
The 2024-25 campaign was already an extremely dominant one for the Anfield outfit, with Slot’s men often easily outperforming their title rivals.

Indeed, some of their performances towards the tail-end of the season left a lot to be desired, but when confirmation of their title win was achieved, most fans didn’t really care.
However, with the addition of Wirtz to their starting XI, Mohamed Salah could end up putting out even more impressive numbers with the likes of Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo also potentially getting a boost.
Only time will tell what the future holds, but for now, it seems like the Reds’ fans will have to wait just a little bit longer to see the German donning the Red of Liverpool.
