The New York Jets, under new head coach Aaron Glenn, will have a very clear offensive identity: They're going to be physical.
And despite trade buzz, it seems like they're going to be physical with Breece Hall as the go-to back.
Part of achieving a stout run game for Justin Fields is that offensive coordinator Tanner Engstrand has three good options to rotate.
Breece Hall is the starter, Braelon Allen showed glimpses last season, and Isaiah Davis makes up the room. But Hall's future in New York has for a time not been set in stone, with thoughts that he could be up for trade in the offseason.
But listening to Glenn, he has faith in the room and had special mention of Hall and his plans for him in 2025.
"I think mentally he's in a good place," Glenn said earlier this offseason "We have three running backs on this team that we're going to utilize as much as possible. They're all big men. They can run. They're violent. They're physical. Once we get the players in and see how they operate, I think every player is going to be happy with how they go about this offense and he'll [Hall] be one of them."
With Hall being a steady contributor over the past two seasons since returning from his knee injury (994 yards, 876 yards, 10 combined rushing touchdowns), he will enter the final year of his rookie contract in 2025.
So, after a period where it looked like Hall could be on another team, Glenn has a plan for Breece, and it is part of a three-pronged attack under Engstrand.
Without a 1,000-yard season to his name, maybe 2025 could be when Hall finally breaks out and puts it all together.
Assume the trade rumors continue to fade?
He'll have the chances. He just has to make the most of them.
