Report: Man City have now approached Arsenal to sign their teenager who Declan Rice called…

Manchester City and Arsenal arguably have two of the best academies in English football.

While Phil Foden underwhelmed last season, he is City’s best-ever youth graduate, amassing 97 goals and 60 assists in 315 appearances for his boyhood club while winning every possible trophy there is to win.

Cole Palmer is thriving at Chelsea but it was at the Etihad Stadium where he developed into a superstar as well, with other standout examples being Rico Lewis and James McAtee to name a few.

Similarly, Arsenal have also produced several exciting young players over the years such as Bukayo Saka, Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri.

Man City make approach to sign Arsenal wonderkid Max Dowman

Max Dowman looks like the next big thing coming through the ranks at Arsenal, with Declan Rice telling BBC Sport that “he is unreal.”

Despite just being 15, Dowman has already trained with the Gunners’ senior team on numerous occasions as well.

Manchester City were interested in signing Nwaneri and Football Transfers have now revealed that they have made initial approaches to sign the Arsenal U-18s wonderkid as well.

But alongside City, Barcelona have set their sights on signing the teenager as well and have made moves to secure his services.

Manchester City view Dowman as a prospect with a bright future in the game, as they consider the youngster to be capable of becoming a first-team player akin to Foden.

Despite Barcelona’s interest in the Englishman’s services, the disadvantage they have is that unless his parents move to Spain, the Catalan giants will be unable to sign him, unlike City.

How Arsenal feel about keeping Max Dowman

It seems a key area of Manchester City’s project is developing future stars.

Bernardo Silva loves Oscar Bobb, with the Norwegian being one of City’s most prodigious youngsters and has already tipped him to have a “very bright future.”

Arsenal were keen on signing Vitor Reis, which shows how gifted he is and Manchester City will be hoping that their pursuit of Dowman, who registered 19 goals and five assists last season is not impacted by the fact that they beat Mikel Arteta’s side to his signature.

But the bad news for Pep Guardiola and Co is that the Gunners are “confident about keeping hold of the sought-after teenager.

Arsenal view Dowman as one of their most talented youngsters, who could become a first-team player one day and furthermore, that they have provided him with the right environment to succeed.
