Lisandro Martinez is looking forward to getting back on the pitch next season, with his stance on transfer interest from Napoli now revealed.
It was a difficult season for everyone connected to Manchester United.
Lisandro Martinez has not played a competitive game for United since falling to the ground against Crystal Palace in February, with a stretcher required to take the World Cup winner down the tunnel.
The bad news was confirmed later that Martinez tore the cruciate ligament in his knee. United never communicated a timeline on when the Argentina international could return.
It is understood that a lot depends on how Martinez’s rehabilitation progresses.
Four months have passed since Martinez suffered the knee injury and United fans will hope that he can return next season.
That means Martinez had to watch a disappointing season unfold from the stands, as United finished 15th in the Premier League and lost the Europa League final against Tottenham.
Ruben Amorim won’t want to rush Martinez back because he will want to ensure that the centre-back doesn’t suffer more serious setbacks after missing lots of football over the past two seasons due to similar injuries.

Lisandro Martinez not interested in Napoli move
It was recently reported that Napoli are keen on signing Martinez, despite his recent injury struggles.
The Serie A champions could look to do more business with United after enjoying success from a deal conducted with the club to sign Scott McTominay last year.
According to the Daily Mail, Martinez has no desire to join Napoli, and he is on course to return for pre-season training.
The report also states that Martinez is hopeful of making a first team comeback in September, which means he may just miss the opening few games of the 2025/26 season.
Martinez, 27, is determined to stay and succeed at Old Trafford even if Champions League clubs show an interest in his signature.
It would be a huge boost for Amorim if he could keep Martinez fit for the majority of next season. Many pundits forget that the Red Devils have been without their best defender for most of the last two seasons.
Man Utd centre-back options after two depart
United confirmed that three players will leave Old Trafford at the end of their contracts later this month.
That list includes two centre-backs, with Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans leaving the club.
Evans has decided to retire after an incredible career, enjoying two spells at United, winning a total of 14 trophies.
That means United have four centre-backs going into the new season.
Harry Maguire
Ayden Heaven
Lisandro Martinez
Matthijs de Ligt
United also have players who can step into the centre-back role such as Noussair Mazraoui and Luke Shaw, so United are already well covered in the defensive department.
