Philadelphia Eagles’ rookie linebacker. Jihaad Campbell isn’t expected to make his debut on the practice field until ‘sometime in August’, according to Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio.

This was a burning question after Campbell was selected by Philadelphia with the 31st pick in the first round of the 2025 NFL, following having shoulder surgery to repair a torn labrum in March. Campbell has since been sidelined in practice on his path back to the gridiron, but the Philadelphia brass now has an estimated timetable for the former Alabama standout’s return.

“He won’t hit the practice field until sometime in August,” Fangio said to reporters on Tuesday. “We’re doing all we can. He’s doing all he can in meetings. We’re doing all we can with him on the field. I take him to the side and do an individual drill with him that’s suited to what he can do right now. He’s working good and trying to pick it up.”

Fangio also noted that Campbell has been working with the Philadelphia inside linebacker room early on, while also hinting at the potential of using him as an edge rusher in specific packages in the 2025 season.
