Leeds United could land a surprise move for one of the Premier League's longest-serving defenders, according to reports - with Liverpool star Joe Gomez potentially in their sights after returning to the top-flight following a two-year hiatus.
The Whites' owners, 49ers Enterprises, could be set to spend £100million in the summer to buck the trend of promoted sides being relegated as soon as they've earned a place in the division - and Gomez could be one star to move to Elland Road, with the centre-back on Daniel Farke's radar if he decides to leave Merseyside in the coming months.

The report by Empire of the Kop states that Liverpool could be 'open' to parting ways with Gomez in the summer transfer window, with a number of Premier League clubs, including Leeds, keeping a 'close eye' on his situation at Anfield.

Gomez is the only survivor of the squad that Jurgen Klopp inherited from Brendan Rodgers after the change in management in October 2015. Despite Klopp labelling him as 'outstanding' during his time on Merseyside, Gomez has struggled for game time over the past year thanks to the form of his teammates and injury woes - making just nine Premier League appearances for the Reds as they won the league in Arne Slot's debut season.
The centre-back, who can also play at right-back, was a stalwart under Klopp as the Reds won their first top-flight trophy in three decades back in 2019/20, featuring in 28 Premier League games - and his extensive experience would suit Leeds down to the ground.
Sources close to Empire of the Kop state that Liverpool wouldn't stand in Gomez's way if he wished to leave, setting a price tag of £25.3million for the England international - with Leeds being 'informed' on his situation, where Gomez has a £95,000-per-week contract.
Leeds even believe that they could sign the former Charlton Athletic youngster for less than the £25.3million posed to them, with Gomez being open to a move away from Anfield in the coming months.
Although stars Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate are ahead of him in the pecking order, as well as Conor Bradley and Jeremie Frimpong at right-back, Gomez has evident talent - making 241 appearances for Liverpool - though his last start for the club came in 2024, after he was hauled off with an injury vs West Ham United in late December.
