Vladimir Coufal wants to continue playing in England. The veteran defender has been linked with a move to Everton this summer.
The 32-year-old will leave West Ham United when his contract expires. The Czech Republic international spent five years at the London Stadium and played a key role in the team's resurgence under David Moyes.
With Moyes now at Everton and Coufal set to become a free agent, it's no shock that he has been linked to the Blues.
Speaking to Dnes Prague (h/t Sport Witness), the full-back said he would be open to staying in the Premier League.
"There are preferences, it would be ideal to stay in England, but there are other options," he said. "I would like Spain, where it's warm."
Coufal also confirmed he was close to joining Fulham in January before West Ham decided against selling him.
He also added that the fact he does not currently have a new club lined up will not impact his preparation for the new season.
"I'm calm, I'm fine, that's football life," he said while on international duty. "After the meeting, I'll take a vacation and start preparing for the new season, as if I were under contract.
"It (his goodbye to West Ham) was emotionally tense and demanding. I would compare it to not wanting to leave the girl you love, but she wants to leave you."
Everton are likely to be on the hunt for full-back reinforcements this summer, especially after the versatile Ashley Young moved on. The club is yet to make any announcement over the future of club captain Seamus Coleman either.
The Blues do have Jake O'Brien who performed well at centre-back at times last season, while Nathan Patterson continues to struggle with form and fitness.
