Newcastle are showing interest in a summer move for Liverpool defender Joe Gomez, journalist Liam Togher has claimed.
The Magpies are believed to be among several Premier League clubs monitoring the England international’s uncertain situation at Anfield, along with Aston Villa, Everton, West Ham and Bournemouth.
Liverpool are reportedly open to Gomez’s departure this summer and would not stand in his way if he chose to leave, having set a €30m (£25m) asking price.
However, suitors believe they could secure a deal for less than the quoted figure, and there are indications the 28-year-old would consider a move away from Merseyside this offseason.

Gomez has endured an injury-hit first season under Arne Slot, with a hamstring issue limiting him to just 17 appearances and 880 minutes of action across all competitions.
The 28-year-old returned to the first-team squad for the final two games of the season but remained an unused substitute against Brighton and Crystal Palace.
Despite recent injury troubles, Gomez is believed to have no shortage of suitors in the Premier League, with at least eight clubs closely tracking his situation, including Newcastle.
The ‘exceptional’ defender, who joined Liverpool from Charlton in 2015, is under contract until the summer of 2027.
Newcastle are on the lookout for a new centre-back this summer as they aim to bolster Eddie Howe’s backline ahead of their return to the Champions League next season.
The Magpies are also believed to have identified Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi as a target, with Howe particularly keen on bringing him to St James’ Park.
