Leeds United’s desire to bring in players with Premier League experience continues to dictate the names linked with the club – and another Liverpool star is on The Whites’ radar.
Having learned from the disaster of summer 2022, Leeds want players who have already played in the Premier League. The summer of 2022 was the last window Leeds had prior to a Premier League season.
Victor Orta and Jesse Marsch combined to sign the likes of Marc Roca, Brenden Aaronson, Luis Sinisterra, Rasmus Kristensen, Tyler Adams and others that had not played a single minute in England’s top tier.
Leeds were relegated that season and it has seen Leeds target those with Premier League know-how. It has led the club to being linked with two Liverpool players previously, and now a third in Joe Gomez.

Leeds targeting Liverpool star Joe Gomez but face competition
This summer, Leeds have already made enquiries for Caoimhin Kelleher but have missed out to Brentford after they struck an £18m deal to land the Irishman this week. Konstantinos Tsimikas is also on Leeds’ list.
Now, a report from Empire of the Kop says Leeds are one of eight clubs eyeing a move for Liverpool’s England international Gomez. The versatile defender managed nine Premier League outings last term.
Falling down the pecking order under Arne Slot, Liverpool are willing to sell Gomez for a fee of £25m. Newcastle, Aston Villa, Everton, West Ham, Bournemouth, Leeds, Burnley and Sunderland are all keen.

Milner of course, left Liverpool in the summer of 2023 to join Brighton after a long-winded stint with Gomez at Liverpool. The 15-time England defender has been plagued by injury but is rated highly.

Certainly, by Milner. Speaking after a 1-0 win over Newcastle in 2022, Milner said Gomez’s crossing ability surprised him: “For Joey, for example, to come in this morning and perform like he did was incredible.
“[He won] headers, they were loading his side, and going forward. I’ve realised over the last few months what a good crosser of the ball he is! It’s pleasing,” Milner said about Gomez on Liverpool’s website.
