Aston Villa offer can get closer to requested fee – Summer move possible

On May 28th, we covered claims from Panama which stated Aston Villa have seen two offers rejected for Michael Amir Murillo. It was also reported Marseille are requesting €25m for the defender.

There was no indication of whether the Villans are willing to meet the Ligue 1 side’s request.

But! Football Club have a report on Aston Villa and the competition they will face to sign the 29-year-old.

Roberto De Zerbi mainly used Michael Amir Murillo in his preferred role as a right-back, but also as a centre-back at times this season. He played 32 games, and Marseille rewarded him with a new contract in March.

Despite signing an extension, it’s possible for the Panama international to change clubs this summer. Marseille will only let him leave if their request of €25m with bonuses is met.

Stade Rennais are also keen on the defender. They are currently in the process of selling Lorenz Assignon to VfB Stuttgart for €12-15m and could reinvest that and more to sign Michael Amir Murillo.

It’s not certain Stade Rennais will convert their interest into an offer and the report only indicates that’s what they could do.

Aston Villa don’t seem to have such limitations. They have monitored the versatile player for a while and But! Football Club state the Premier League club could make an offer over €20m.

If Unai Emery’s side were to table this proposal, they’ll be closer to the fee demanded by Marseille.
