Manchester United are looking to improve their squad ahead of the 2025/26 season.
Ruben Amorim is tasked with turning things around at Manchester United after a turbulent first six months at the club.
United finished 15th in the Premier League and lost the Europa League final to conclude a disappointing 2024/25 season.
After missing out on qualification for European competition next season, United are set to feel the financial pinch and will be forced to sell players to make way for new signings.
Ineos have already completed one signing this summer, with Matheus Cunha arriving from Wolves at the beginning of the summer transfer window.
United are also keen on Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo.
The Cameroon international has been closely monitored by Newcastle, but now, it seems like United are leading the race for the 26-year-old’s signature.
It is understood that Mbeumo is prioritising a move to United this summer, despite receiving interest from Newcastle, Tottenham and Arsenal.

Ian Wright shares verdict on potential Bryan Mbeumo transfer
United still have a lot of work to do to sign Mbeumo, with talks at an early stage with Brentford.
Mbeumo has reportedly demanded a £250k a week deal to leave Brentford this summer, but it remains to be seen if United will offer that sort of money without incentives.
Speaking on the Wrighty’s House Podcast, Arsenal legend Ian Wright has been discussing Mbeumo’s potential move to United.
Wright shared a prediction on what will happen to Mbeumo if he signs for United.
The footballer turned pundit believes the Cameroonian could reach a new level if he goes to United, claiming he will thrive under the pressure that comes from playing at Old Trafford.
“When you saw it, like obviously Ivan Toney took all the plaudits at Brentford, but when you watched him then and watched the, you’re looking at it now and it’s more consistent, and you think, yeah. It’s the only thing I’m surprised about with him, is that he’s only 26,” Wright said.
“You know something, if he goes to United I think that he’s somebody that, if he gets in the moments that he’s had for Brentford, for United, he will then realise where he is. Because he goes to another level with the attention from United.”
Unlike other forwards, Mbeumo will aim to kick on should he join United. Other forwards like Rasmus Hojlund went backwards after joining United, but the Dane has struggled to deal with the responsibilities of leading the line on his own.
Hojlund is an example of a player struggling to deal with the pressures that come with playing for a club like United.
As a result, the Dane faces an uncertain future.
What’s next for Mbeumo?
Although it was previously thought that Mbeumo would leave Brentford for a team competing in Europe, the Brentford star has changed his mind for United.
That means the next step for a deal concerning Mbeumo is for United to negotiate terms with Brentford.

A deal won’t materialise unless United can reach an agreement with Brentford over a transfer fee.
United also need to agree on personal terms with Mbeumo but that isn’t expected to be a problem.
