Mohammed Kudus has been linked with a move away from West Ham this summer.

West Ham will be no strangers to this saying, but this summer is absolutely massive for them, and they have to get it right.

After such a wretched campaign last time out, the room for improvement is huge, and recruitment at the London Stadium is going to play a crucial role in that.

However, not only will the Irons have to recruit smartly, they will also have to sell smartly, and the latest update has given David Sullivan the easiest decision he is ever likely to make.

West Ham cannot sanction Chelsea transfer

There is a sense of inevitability that Kudus will leave West Ham this summer, but if a deal is to be struck, it has to be the right one, and the latest update doesn’t fit that bill.

Chelsea are said to be interested in signing the West Ham forward, though they want to strike a cut-price deal to sign him before their Club World Cup campaign gets underway on 16 June.

Appearances 45 35

Goals 14 5

Assists 9 4

Kudus’ numbers in all competitions in the last two seasons.

Kudus’ £85million release clause doesn’t activate until July, hence why the Blues are looking to seal a deal early, and Sullivan will surely have an answer ready in the back of his mind.

There is no chance that the Irons should be sanctioning his exit to a rival club, and certainly not for below his release clause.

By doing so, West Ham would be making a huge error, and Sullivan and all involved will not need to think twice about rejecting any potential offer.

Potter needs to be backed at West Ham

If Kudus is sold, there needs to be a ready-made replacement through the door before he heads out the other way.

If the Irons are to progress, they need to showcase that they are capable of planning, and losing Kudus without a replacement would be quite the opposite.

This summer is going to play a decisive role in the success that they can find next season, and they have to get decisions like this right.
