Marcus Rashford could join Man United U21s if Ineos snub Barcelona loan offer

Ineos face an ultimatum with Marcus Rashford this summer after receiving interest in a loan deal.

After being frozen out of the Manchester United squad by Ruben Amorim, Marcus Rashford impressed for Aston Villa during a six-month loan spell.

While Villa had the option to buy Rashford for £40m, they walked away from a permanent deal after missing out on Champions League football.

As things stand, Marcus Rashford is set to return to Carrington at the end of the month but Ineos are eager to find a new buyer for the 27-year-old.

Barcelona have shown interest in Rashford, and it seems that is the only move on the player’s mind.

Marcus Rashford only wants to join Barcelona this summer

While Inter Milan have also been linked with Rashford, the only club he has his sights set on is Barcelona.

Back in January, Barcelona was described as Rashford’s ‘dream’ move and he is set on making a move to the Catalonian club this summer.

Transfer expert Graeme Bailey has spoken exclusively to United in Focus about the two options that Rashford has given United this summer.

Bailey explains that Rashford only wants to play for Barcelona, but the Spanish giants have so far only registered interest in a loan deal while United prefer a permanent solution.

It leaves Ineos with two options – to agree a loan deal with Barcelona or to have the “most expensive youth squad member” with Rashford demoted to the Under-21s next season.

Ultimately, Rashford has his heart set on Barcelona and is willing to push for the move to take place.

Ineos relying on £40m from permanent Marcus Rashford sale

This season, Villa agreed to pay most of Rashford’s wages, meaning the move came at very little cost for United but now Ineos want to cash in on the winger so that a replacement can be bought.

Matheus Cunha will wear Rashford’s No.10 next season which is the biggest hint that Rashford will be leaving, but Ineos need funds from Rashford’s sale to fund extra deals.

Ineos are now in talks for Bryan Mbeumo with Brentford demanding around £60 million for his signature, but the deal will be hard to justify if sales are not completed.

Jadon Sancho has already returned from Chelsea, meaning United have missed out on a potential £25 million fee, while Antony is still yet to strike a permanent move away following his successful loan spell at Real Betis.
