Man United and Chelsea interested in Serie A ‘keeper

Manchester United could be busy during this summer’s transfer window, following a disastrous campaign last term.

United will not compete in Europe next season after finishing 15th in the Premier League, and head coach Ruben Amorim will be desperate to see his side improve domestically next term.

The Portuguese may therefore wish to delve into the transfer market this summer, in order to bolster his squad ahead of the start of next season.

With that in mind, United have emerged as one of a number of clubs interested in a Serie A star.

According to CaughtOffside, the Red Devils are monitoring AS Roma goalkeeper Mile Svilar ahead of a possible move to sign the player.

The report claims that both United and rivals Chelsea are showing interest in the one-time Serbia international, who has impressed for Roma this season.

Svilar joined Roma from Portuguese side Benfica in 2022 and has since established himself as their first-choice goalkeeper.

In total the 25-year-old has kept 30 clean sheets in 85 games for Roma, including 19 clean sheets in 51 games this season.

The Serbian ‘keeper is contracted to Roma until the end of the 2026/27 campaign, but the report claims that talks between the club and the player over a possible new deal have broken down.

According to the report, the player is demanding wages that are more than double the amount currently being offered by Roma, and the club could therefore allow him to leave the Italian capital for a fee of around £30 million.

That has attracted the attention of several clubs, including Chelsea and Man United, the report claims.

The Blues, however, are said to currently be focussing on a potential move for AC Milan’s Mike Maignan.

It is also claimed that Manchester City, Newcastle United, Bayern Munich and Monaco have all also shown interest in the Serb in recent times.
