FLORHAM PARK -- The New York Jets are very high on all of their seven draft picks made in the 2025 Draft in April.
One player is making a major mark on the team through OTAs now.
Mason Taylor, LSU's all-time leading receiver at the tight end position, has performed well for New York during the offseason workout period. The former son of Hall-of-Fame edge rusher Jason Taylor, Mason continues to impress his new coaching staff.
In more ways than just his receiving prowess.
"I think he's been doing an outstanding job in that aspect," Jets head coach Aaron Glenn said. "And it's not just the pass catching, because that's what you guys see, that's what you guys really think is an 'a-ha' moment, but it's the blocking to me is what really gets me going."
If there was a weakness to Taylor's game coming out of college, it was in his run-blocking. He wasn't the best blocker of all tight ends coming out of the draft. The fact that he has already made strides is huge for himself and the team.
It shows the sky is truly the limit for the 21-year-old.
Time will tell whether or not Taylor can make an immediate impact for the Jets to start the 2025 season. It is very rare for rookie tight ends to do so.
Taylor is not like most tight ends, though. He has NFL pedigree that has him prepared for the upcoming season.
And it shows he just might be a key player this season for New York.
