Watch: Manchester City and Citc launch Esports video

Manchester City and City in the Community (CITC) have launched a new promotional video for the Manchester City Esports Academy programme.

The short film features participants, teachers and CITC coaches, who all provide an insight into how the course provides high quality education, trips and unique opportunities.

In partnership with Oldham College, the new esports course is part of CITC’s City BTEC programme.

Participants will have the opportunity to gain a Level 2 Certificate in Esports after one year and a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Esports if they complete the full two years of the programme.

The objective of the new course is to provide students with comprehensive education and training in esports.

The course also aims to develop technical skills, offer industry insight, and prepare students for various careers within the esports world.

Rio, a participant on the course said: “It’s [the course] helped with my anxiety.

“I didn’t do very well in high school. I had a very low attendance, but the college overall has helped me with support and the course is that good I’ve actually wanted to go [to college].”

Some of the units that participants will study are:

• Esports games, teams and tournaments

• Streaming for Esports

• Health, wellbeing and fitness for Esports players

• Esports events

“The course not only equips students with the technical skills and industry knowledge needed for a career in esports but also supports their personal development.
