Manchester United youngster Ethan Williams is being chased by a number of clubs, including Stockport, Blackpool and Hibernian, as the Red Devils plan out the next step in the highly-talented attacker’s development, sources have told Football Insider.
Williams, who has been United’s top scorer in the UEFA youth Champions League over the past two seasons, spent the second half of last season with League Two Cheltenham.
The 19-year-old provided four goal contributions in 778 minutes of senior football whilst with the Robins, and United are ready to loan him out again next season to continue his development.
Williams is highly-regarded at Old Trafford and the club are looking at options to loan him out again at a higher level than League Two.

No room for Ethan Williams in Man United first-team
Despite an impressive stint with Cheltenham last season, there is still no place for Williams at United.
The young left-winger may be highly-regarded at the club, but under Ruben Amorim‘s stewardship, the 19-year-old does not fit into his tactical plans.

Williams is a more classical wide winger who proved himself an adept crosser whilst with Cheltenham, but the Portuguese manager’s 3-4-2-1 tactics do not cater to the youngster’s strengths.
What’s more, with Matheus Cunha arriving from Wolves and United targeting Bryan Mbeumo, there are plenty of big names ahead of the youngster in the first-team pecking order.

Stockport in hunt for attacking talent after playoff heartbreak
Despite finishing second behind Wrexham by just five points, and nine points above playoff finalists Leyton Orient, Stockport were knocked out of the promotion race by the O’s in the semi-finals.
The Hatters were denied a third promotion in four years and will spend next season pushing for ascension to the Championship.
But to do so, Stockport will need to make better use of the transfer window than they have recently.
Louie Barry was recalled midway through the season by Aston Villa, and still comfortably finished as the club’s highest goal-scorer last season.
Micah Hamilton was brought in on loan from Middlesbrough, whilst Lewis Fiorini was shipped out to Dundee United after joining from Man City in the summer, as both former Citizens failed to have an impact last year.
By targeting Williams, Stockport are looking to source talent from the red side of Manchester after the blue side failed to pay dividends.
