Everton have been linked with a move to sign Liverpool youngster Ben Doak this summer.

Dr Rajpal Brar, an injury expert, has assessed the hamstring rupture he sustained while on loan at Middlesbrough.

The winger was a regular for the Championship outfit, but he has not played since the end of January due to his injury.

Everton likely to look at Doak’s hamstring recovery and wear and tear from his meniscus injury

The Toffees will be looking at the 19-year-old’s recovery from his hamstring injury before making a decision to sign him, according to Dr Brar.

They also will want to look at his meniscus injury and if there is still wear and tear from it.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Dr Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and a Sports Scientist, said about Doak: “Everton will take a look at his ongoing recovery from what looks to be a Grade 4 hamstring injury, which is a full rupture.

“They also likely will take a look at his knee to see if there’s any increased wear and tear from his meniscus injury.

“*He has been absent since February due to injury, so the lack of game time is also a concern.*“

Doak alternatives must be considered due to injury red flags

The Toffees’ interest in Doak may waver due to his concerning injury history and recent lack of game time.

Dr. Brar highlighted the teenager’s Grade 4 hamstring rupture and prior meniscus injury, which sidelined him since February after a productive loan at Middlesbrough.

At such a young age, these serious injuries raise concerns about long-term durability and potential wear and tear, particularly in his knee.

The lack of recent match fitness further increases the risk of signing him.

Additionally, dealing with rivals Liverpool could complicate negotiations and alienate Everton fans, prompting the hierarchy to pursue alternative wingers with fewer injury concerns and no ties to their Merseyside rivals, ensuring a safer, less contentious investment.
