Exclusive: Nick Woltemade to cost €40m+, makes debut tonight – Everton & Brighton linked

Earlier on Wednesday, we covered a report from Germany which explained just how well Nick Woltemade has been doing for VfB Stuttgart.

The 23-year-old scored 17 goals in 33 games for his club in the recently concluded German domestic season. He’s in Julian Nagelsmann’s latest Germany squad, and there’s been claims in the country’s media today that Woltemade could make his debut as a starter against Portugal this evening.

That would round off a remarkable period for the youngster, who has recently been linked with multiple clubs. German newspaper Bild reported at the end of May that Atlético Madrid have been in contact, and that Bayern Munich, Everton and Brighton & Hove Albion are also keen.

That came on the back of Woltemade scoring VfB Stuttgart’s opening goal in a 4-2 DFB-Pokal final victory over Arminia Bielefeld.

Everton and Brighton are surely likely to be joined by other Premier League clubs in their interest. German newspaper De Welt today reported the striker could be bought for a bargain €20m this summer, but Sport Witness have been informed that isn’t the case.

A source close to the situation informed Sport Witness that VfB Stuttgart will require at least €40m and likely more. That figure may only go north, as it was also confirmed Woltemade will start for Germany tonight.

Regarding any focus on his future, the player’s head is entirely taken up by being in the Germany squad and looking forward to the U21 Euros this summer. The Premier League and La Liga are believed to be leagues which could fit for the soon-to-be German international, but there’s certainly no rush in that regard.

However, clubs like Everton and Brighton will perhaps feel their early interest could be swamped in the coming weeks, depending on how Nick Woltemade performs.
