We were really surprised that the New York Knicks fired Thom Thibodeau but that’s life in the fast lane. He helped build New York into a credible finals threat and he’s out. Who knows? There’s a lot that goes into a decision like that.
It also opens a major job up and one of the names that’s popped up is UConn’s Dan Hurley.
He’s done a brilliant job at UConn in almost every way other than mastering his emotions, which has never been easy for him and as you’ll recall, he seriously considered taking the Lakers job last season before LA ultimately hired Duke legend JJ Redick.
As this article points out, it’s in his geographic comfort zone, aka the Northeast and as it dos not point out, he could coach there for a few years and if it doesn't work out, he could more or less time his exit to coincide with Rick Pitino’s retirement at St. John’s.
Fascinating possibilities ahead which would include a very late hire by UConn. Would they promote Luke Murray? Swing for the fences? Stay tuned!
