Bryan Mbeumo is prolific but it’s his other quality that Ruben Amorim will love the most, it’s sorely needed

Bryan Mbeumo has been identified as the player to follow Matheus Cunha by Manchester United, and looking at his scoring figures, it’s a no-brainer, but that’s not even his best quality!

After adding Matheus Cunha and his 21 goals+assists in the Premier League, Man Utd were hit with the good news that Bryan Mbeumo wants to join.

Mbeumo scored 20 goals this season and assisted eight, a total that would have had him head and shoulders above any other attacker at Old Trafford.

However, his biggest quality is flying under the radar because his numbers pop off the page. That’s what Ruben Amorim will love the most.

Bryan Mbeumo’s best quality

Besides the obvious raw stats and his versatility of being able to play across the front line and as a wing-back, Bryan Mbeumo’s transfer is a no-brainer for one reason.

Amorim’s moving like Sir Alex Ferguson in the market and weakening a Premier League team is certainly a reason, but a deeper look gives the biggest positive.

Mbeumo was one of the rare outfielders in the 2024/25 season who started all 38 Premier League games.

Perhaps even more amazing is that he was one of just two attackers who managed the feat, alongside Mohamed Salah, the player who was set to be replaced by Mbeumo at one point.

Ruben Amorim needs durability at Man Utd

Amorim has been adamant that his current batch of players can also do much more and he will have the chance to prove that right with a pre-season.

However, what can’t be denied is that some members of the team, regardless of whether they can score more or not, can’t be trusted to be fit.

Injuries have been a running theme for the club for two seasons now and both have ended with the club achieving new lows in the Premier League.

Mbeumo’s goals and assists will be sorely needed, but what’s needed even more is an attacker like Bruno Fernandes who the manager knows can be relied upon for every game.

The difference that makes to the planning of the team is night and day, which is also why there were so many reservations about the Portuguese leaving.

Now Fernandes is not only staying, but United are buying another player who matches his production levels and his availability.

The latter is worth its weight in gold, nobody would know that better than Amorim who’s managed with one hand tied to his back due to injuries to his players.
