With the domestic football season across Europe concluded and no international football to feast our eyes on over the summer, the FIFA Club World Cup is providing something of a stop-gap – and GIVEMESPORT’s Ben Jacobs has exclusively reported that the winners of the competition will be given a new shirt design.
From England, Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City – who finished 2024/25 trophyless – and Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea are heading across the pond to take part in FIFA’s most-expensive club competition, which will get underway on June 14, 2025.
According to Jacobs, all 32 competing clubs will share a participation prize pool of $525 million as both sides from Madrid – Los Blancos and Atleti – fly the flag for the Spanish top flight. Bayern Munich, Porto, Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan are also among the teams travelling Stateside.

Shirt Addition For Club World Cup Winners Revealed
Guardiola's Man City have worn a similar badge since 2023
Not only will the winners pocket an eye-watering £100 million – the biggest prize money for a club football tournament over a seven-game format – for their exploits in the States but further recognition of their success will be in the form of a shirt addition.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Jacobs has revealed that the winners of the first-ever Club World Cup will be commemorated with a special badge on the front of their shirts until the second edition of the expanded 32-club competition in 2029.
“Exclusive: The Club World Cup winner will be awarded a special champions badge and it will remain on their short for four years. The inaugural champion will keep the gold logo until 2029.”
The eagle-eyed fans would have noticed that Guardiola’s men have worn something similar since December 2023 – and the new addition is reportedly going to mimic that of the Citizens, who won the old version in 2023 when just seven teams were in attendance.
Guardiola – widely regarded as one of the best football managers of all time – and his men needed to play just twice to secure their status as champions and, thus, were given unprecedented permission to don the badge in 2024/25, too, since they are technically the reigning champions.
