Fabrizio Romano asked about Liverpool being linked with Leao: “I’m not aware”

Fabrizio Romano has poured cold water on the idea that Rafael Leao is a big-money transfer target for Liverpool this summer.

Leao is at the centre of several transfer stories at present, with Bayern Munich the club that are apparently the most keen on landing the Portuguese winger, and before the Club World Cup too.

According to TMW, Liverpool have made contact to sign Leao from Milan too ad they state: “In the last few hours, however, Liverpool have made a significant enquiry. While it is true that on the left there are Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo, at least one of the two can be used as a centre forward.”

Leao-Liverpool: Romano responds

Liverpool are pushing to improve their side after winning the Premier League title, with Jeremie Frimpong in the door plus deals for Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez in the pipeline.

However, Leao does not seem to be one of the names they are keen on. Fabrizio Romano had his say on Liverpool’s link to the winger in a question and answer session via GiveMeSport, stating: “I’m not aware of concrete negotiations or talks at this stage.”

Above all it is worth mentioning that Milan are about to begin a new era with Igli Tare and Massimiliano Allegri in command. Both the new sporting director and the new head coach are believed to want to build around the winger.

It would also be tough for the fans to digest another big sale amid the news that Tijjani Reijnders is heading for Manchester City in a €70m deal.
