Bryan Mbeumo’s imminent transfer to Manchester United will bring a fresh attacking spark next season, but could also spell trouble for some players.
Man United are to undergo surgical changes this summer to try and repair the club, and it starts with the players on the pitch.
After United finished with their lowest-ever Premier League points tally (42), Ruben Amorim has outlined his plans for improvement next season.
Work has already begun, as the Red Devils have signed Matheus Cunha, but United are looking to add more faces swiftly, as David Ornstein has reported on Bryan Mbeumo’s intention to join United this summer.
With Mbeumo’s prospective switch, let’s take a look at who may benefit or be left behind at United.

Captain Bruno Fernandes covers nearly every blade of grass for Man United, and he’s crying out for someone like Mbeumo to have the same pressing ability, especially in forward areas.
Not only that, but Mbeumo has excelled in a transitional team with Brentford for years, and his attacking movement and instinct will suit both Fernandes’ eye for a long pass and United’s playstyle.
Joshua Zirkzee is best-suited as a false nine, where he can link up play, and Mbeumo could provide the exact assistance needed as a technical inside forward to help him flourish.

Zirkzee is a physical striker and excels at holding the ball up; however, as often seen this season, he lacks a supporting outlet, but Mbeumo could be just that, as he is always looking to get on the ball in the final third.
Mbeumo could be the missing link needed to unleash United’s attack.
Losers: Rasmus Hojlund & Amad Diallo

Mbeumo has played in strike partnerships with both Ivan Toney and Yoane Wissa at Brentford, proving he can be utilised as an effective striker, which leaves Rasmus Hojlund’s Man United future in even more doubt.

Hojlund is already standing at a crossroads in his United career, and Fabrizio Romano’s report that suggests the Dane is a top target for Serie A side Napoli only adds to the uncertainty.
After failing to impress this year under Amorim, the United boss could look to use new signings Cunha, Fernandes, and Mbeumo as a front three, with both Cunha and Mbeumo capable of playing as the nine, leaving no room for Hojlund.
Amad Diallo is a bit more of a rogue shout, however we know Amorim likes to rotate, and signing the Brentford man could affect his time on the pitch due to both predominantly being used as a right-sided forward.
However, we saw Amad first used as a flying wing-back when Amorim arrived, and it could be in the coach’s thoughts to revert him to that position once more.
Only time will tell with Mbeumo’s potential move to the Red Devils.
