Kostas Tsimikas has been linked with a move to Leeds United from Liverpool.

Former Liverpool star Jamie Carragher has delivered a verdict on reported Leeds United transfer target Kostas Tsimikas.

The Whites are currently looking ahead to their return to the Premier League after securing automatic promotion from the Championship.

Part of those plans will involve Leeds looking to the transfer market for new signings to strengthen their squad for their return to the top flight.

Tsimikas has been heavily linked with a move to Elland Road this summer as Leeds look to strengthen the left-back position amid uncertainty around Junior Firpo's future.

Liverpool appear to be set to sign a new left-back of their own with Milos Kerkez reported to be a target for the Merseyside outfit. As a result, it has led to speculation that Tsimikas could leave Anfield, which would hand a boost to Leeds.

Carragher has explained why he expects Tsimikas to leave Liverpool amid reported interest from Leeds.

"Throughout the season, I was still saying that Liverpool still need five or six players," said Carragher on the latest edition of The Overlap Fan Debate.

"I think the left-back comes in and plays straight away, [Jeremie] Frimpong will fight with Conor Bradley, [Florian] Wirtz will play when he comes to the club. But I still think we need a centre forward.

"I think Liverpool will look to get their business done pretty early. Liverpool need a left-back, Andy Robertson needs help on that side and Kostas Tsimikas will be moved on.

"I've always felt that attacking midfield and left-back are the two areas that have jumped out to me in the last 12 to 18 months."
