Here is a roundup of the top Arsenal news, gossip and transfer speculation from icfootballnews featuring the likes of Nico Williams, Benjamin Sesko and Myles Lewis-Skelly…
ARSENAL starlet Myles Lewis-Skelly is expected to sign a new Arsenal contract this summer, after establishing himself as a first team regular under boss Mikel Arteta.
The transfer window is now open for a few days and it has been claimed that Real Madrid were rumoured to be poised to poach the versatile 18-year-old after he enjoyed a dazzling breakout campaign, with his deal due to expire at the end of next season.
The Spaniards are looking to revamp the side after a disappointing campaign saw them now win any silverware, and now new boss Xabi Alonso is keen to add players to the side that will improve the defence, and that left-back position is a problem that needs to be solved.
Arsenal higher-ups, though, are not thought to be worried about losing him. Rather, they are confident he will sign a new deal this summer, incentivised with a sizeable pay rise.
However, in a recent interview with Ian Wright for the Premier League, Lewis-Skelly has revealed his full love for Arsenal.
He claimed: “For me personally, I’m a fan of the club, so you’re watching it on TV, going to the games, and in your mind you always wanna get to where they’re at. You’re just playing, you’re just enjoying it and see where it takes you.”
IcFootballnews Says.
Lewis-Skelly is a player that Arsenal dont want to lose, the lad has shown that he already has the ability to compete against the very best players in world football, and a player that could be even better than Ashley Cole was.
ARSENAL will be in no rush to hand him a new contract as he has 12 months still to go, but we are sure that he will agree that new contract, end all speculation about his immediate future and develop very nicely at the Emirates.
Madrid may be interested but they will not get the lad.
£70M FOR SESKO
*ARSENAL*’s push to sign a striker has hit a pothole as they learn top target Benjamin Sesko’s asking price, with reports claiming that the Bundesliga giants would now like £70 million for their star man.
Despite Chelsea and ARSENAL claiming Champions League football this season, there has been alot of speculation that both clubs need to delve into that transfer kitty and add a striker that has the ability to score 20, 30 or even 40 goals a season.
Sesko has been on the agenda of the Premier League giants for the last few seasons, but made the decision last year that he wanted to stay put for one more season to help his development, with many believing that a move will happen this transfer window.
Arsenal have been named as the favourites to get a transfer deal done for the big man but the Gunners were told of the asking price as sporting director Andrea Berta held a ‘secret meeting’ with his Leipzig counterpart.
Sesko’s contract features a variable release clause which changes based on his performance.
icfootballnews says…
Sesko is a very young striker that has the ability to score some goals, in the Bundesliga. The Premier League will be a massive step up for the lad that he may struggle with making if he joins the wrong team.
Chelsea have been linked with the lad, as they will continue to be linked until he moves, but we cannot see him signing for the Blues as Chelsea have quite a few striking options already.
Mikel Arteta knows that he needs a striker and Sesko is just the type of forward he would surely like at the club. If ARSENAL really want to sign a top forward, then they have to start spending the money.
Is £70 million alot for one of the best young strikers around?
WILLIAMS TO STAY PUT
*ARSENAL*’s pursuit of Athletic Club winger Nico Williams has taken a hit today as Athletic Bilbao have reportedly opened contract negotiations to extend his stay at the Estadio San Mames.
Nico Williams is one of the most talked about wingers in the game right now and is a player that have been linked with some of the games biggest clubs because of that £48 million release clause.
ARSENAL have been linked with a move to the Emirates for the past few weeks as it has been claimed on numerous occasions that Mikel Arteta is a massive fan of the Spanish star and is ready to pay big money to get a deal done.
Interest from Arsenal over a deal for Williams has dyed down towards the end of the last transfer window as Williams’ apparent preference to stay in Spain, but according to rumours – the Gunners, who are willing to meet his £48million release clause,
However – the Fichajes. net website have claimed that he is now in talks to agree a new contract and stay at his current club. The new deal on offer will reportedly increase that release clause and raise the player’s salary to around £8.4m per season.
Williams, 22, hit 17 goals and assists in all competitions this season as Athletic Club finished fourth in La Liga and reached the Europa League semi-finals.
He made six appearances for Spain as La Roja lifted the European Championships last summer, scoring twice.
IcFootballnews View…
Nico Williams is a brilliant attacker that would be a brilliant addition to that Gunners side and to be honest – we believe that ARSENAL would be getting a game-changing player if they manage to secure a deal for the man.
The news that he is closing in on a deal to stay put will put alot of clubs off as his asking price will go up, it is a shame to see that we may never see him in the Premier League, but he is happy, he will get a bigger wage, why leave?
