Newcastle United are aiming high after managing to qualify for the UEFA Champions League for the second time in three seasons.

Eddie Howe still wants Marc Guehi – now an England regular – and was hopeful of signing Bryan Mbeumo until it became clear the Brentford No.19 wanted to join Manchester United.

Newcastle United also want Joao Pedro – with iNews claiming that the Magpies might even switch to a different formation in order to play a new striker alongside Alexander Isak.

Jack Grealish is another ambitious target for Newcastle United – and there has now been an interesting development involving the England international.

Manchester City leave Jack Grealish out of the FIFA Club World Cup amidst Newcastle United interest

The Telegraph are now claiming that Manchester City will be leaving the 29-year-old out of their squad for the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup, which begins on Saturday 14th June.

It seems to be a decision directly related to a potential transfer, as Matt Law adds that all parties recognise it would be unhelpful to take the Manchester City No.10 to the United States for potentially as long as a month, where he risks picking up an injury which could ruin an exit.

The move comes after TBR Football revealed that Newcastle United are closely monitoring Grealish amidst this situation, and could even be offered the chance to sign the Aston Villa academy graduate on loan, due to his lofty £300,000-a-week wages.

Aston Villa, Everton and West Ham are also interested, while Napoli and AC Milan are keen too – along with clubs in Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

How much Manchester City want to sell Jack Grealish, Citizens set for huge loss

Manchester City could make a loss as large as £62m on their £100m man this summer.

A story from Caught Offside recently claimed that Manchester City could sell Grealish for as little as £38m after deciding to offload the attacking midfielder.

While Newcastle United could certainly afford such a sum, the overall package might put Howe off when you consider the £300,000-a-week salary, so a loan exit still seems the likeliest to materialise this summer.
