Wolves had a number of standout players during the 2024/25 campaign, but there is one player who arguably went under the radar for his performances, namely Andre.

Matheus Cunha’s impressive performances regularly took the headlines at Molineux, but his Brazilian counterpart was arguably as important for Wolves.

Arriving from his homeland last summer, Wolves’ capture of Andre has gone down a treat so far, with the 23-year-old striking a strong partnership with Joao Gomes in the middle of the park.

His tireless running and tackling have earned him plaudits amongst the Molineux faithful, but there is another impressive aspect of his game that goes unnoticed.

Andre was one of the Premier League’s best passers

David Edwards believes Andre is one of the Premier League’s best in his position – and it’s clear to see why.

Midfield counterpart Gomes has earned N’Golo Kante comparisons for his defensive work, and Andre isn’t too far behind in those metrics. Where Andre trumps Gomes, though, is on the ball.

Opta stats taken from the Wolves website show that Andre has been one of the Premier League’s best passers this season.

Out of the players to attempt at least 50 long passes, the Brazilian ranks second in terms of successful passes, with only Yehor Yarmoliuk having a higher success rate with 73.97%.

Given that Andre ranks above pass masters like Kevin De Bruyne and Alexis Mac Allister, maybe it’s time for people to start recognising all aspects of his game, not just the ugly side.

Andre is a must-keep for Wolves this summer

Wolves have already lost Cunha and also look set to lose Rayan Ait-Nouri to Man City – something they will be looking to avoid with Andre this summer.

Vitor Pereira has highlighted Andre’s importance, and it would be a disaster for Wolves to lose the Brazilian during the window.

Rumours of Andre’s exit have been played down in recent months, but given how impressive he’s been during the back end of the season, it would be no surprise to see some of the big clubs come calling.

With that being said, Fosun would be wise to apply a hands-off approach when it comes to the 23-year-old.
