Arsenal not worried in race to sign 26-year-old Real Madrid midfield target after recent…

Arsenal are unperturbed about Martin Zubimendi signing following the midfielder’s latest comments, as they are confident of landing the Real Sociedad star.

According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, the Martin Zubimendi saga potentially took a different turn than what was expected following the midfielder’s comments. Yet, Arsenal are unperturbed about their prospects of signing the Real Sociedad star whose comments have caused some stir within the fanbase.

Arsenal were widely expected to complete the signing of Martin Zubimendi as soon as the transfer window opened on June 1. Such has been the confidence within the fanbase that the midfielder is already in the bag since January, and it was only a matter of time before the move was officially announced.

Yet, in recent weeks there have been some doubts creeping in despite reports stating that Zubimendi was pencilled in for a medical in London. As a response to those reports stating about the impending medical, the midfielder posted a picture on his Instagram, which he went on to explain when quizzed by the media ahead of Spain’s Nations League semifinal with France.

Zubimendi said, “It’s an example of what surrounds football. I often wake up in the morning and read things I didn’t even know I’d done. That was a clear example. It’s true that I don’t take it too seriously, but anyway, I posted those photos to emphasise that it wasn’t exactly the reality of what was happening.”

Those comments and refuting credible reports of an impending medical have stirred a new worry among the Arsenal fanbase. Even Real Sociedad president Jokin Aperribay’s recent claim he wants to keep Martin Zubimendi had allowed doubts to creep in on whether the north Londoners have done any deal for the midfielder.

Another recent story indicated that Zubimendi was still undecided over his next club, while Fabrizio Romano has already given the ‘Here We Go’ on Arsenal’s deal for the 26-year-old, who also features on Real Madrid’s wishlist.

Will Arsenal sign Martin Zubimendi?

More than those comments, the midfielder also stated that he views new Real Madrid boss Xabi Alonso as his idol. Those words have further fueled speculation that Real Madrid might still be in the race, although Arsenal were confident earlier and that might be the case at the moment, as the Gunners are unperturbed in the Martin Zubimendi chase as they are confident of landing the midfielder.

It is only rare that some of the credible journalists, from Spain, England and abroad are wrong about a certain transfer story. Yet, things have happened in the past, although in the case of Martin Zubimendi, Arsenal are internally convinced a deal has been done, while another story recently claimed that Real Sociedad wants to book this transfer after the June 30 accounting deadline and into the next cycle.
