Sir David Brailsford out at Manchester United as part of'major reshuffle'

Sir David Brailsford is set to step back in his role at Manchester United as part of a 'major reshuffle. The move comes as part of a major reshuffle being planned by Ineos boss Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

According to The Times, Brailsford will be reducing his commitment to Man Utd and returning to his role as director of sport for Ineos.

The 61-year-old businessman, who is famed for his 'marginal gains' ideology taken from cycling, stood down from his role as team principal of Ineos Grenadiers when Ratcliffe bought a minority stake of Man Utd.

Brailsford was moved to lead football operations at Old Trafford and was there for a year trying to implement change at the club.

The Red Devils had an absolutely shocking season finishing in a record low position of 15th in the Premier League and losing the Europa League final against Tottenham.

It comes days after Manchester United have already started telling staff they have lost their jobs in the latest round of brutal cuts.

Just days after Ruben Amorim's side lost the Europa League final to Tottenham in Bilbao, INEOS have begun the process of their latest wave of Sir Jim Ratcliffe's cost-cutting measures.

Some of the 200 employees at risk of redundancy are being informed of their position this week.

Chief executive Omar Berrada told staff in February that more redundancies were to follow as part of a 'transformation plan' aimed at returning the club to 'profitability'. United previously cut 250 jobs last year.

However, the club are seemingly keen to make savings as soon as possible after missing out on the £100million windfall that Champions League qualification would have guaranteed.

Last month, Ratcliffe was reportedly 'ready to sell his stake in Man Utd's sister club Nice. The billionaire snapped up the French club six years ago and was said to be entertaining interest from Saudi Arabia.

Ratcliffe added Nice to his football collection in 2019, shelling out £89million. But it seems the British tycoon is ready to part ways with the Ligue 1 side, currently sitting fifth in the league, after an unsuccessful spell in charge of the club. Despite being competitive in France, Nice haven't managed to bag any trophies.

And Ratcliffe appears set to pass the baton, according to French media outlet L'Informe. The Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF), already at the helm of Newcastle, have got wind of Ratcliffe's intentions and are pondering a bid.
