Everton are changing up their recruitment policy this summer.

The Friedkin Group want Everton to start signing young talents as they look to drive down the average age of David Moyes’ squad.

Everton’s squad is currently the third oldest in the Premier League, only behind West Ham United and Fulham.

The Toffees are already looking at Sunderland teenager Chris Rigg, though, that deal may be off the table after their promotion to the top-flight.

Moyes has also been exploring a deal to sign Angel Gomes, with the Lille and England international set to become a free agent.

Now it’s just emerged that a bid has gone in for a Championship wonderkid.

Everton submit bid for Sheffield Wednesday wonderkid Celan-Kole Cadamarteri

The Friedkins are hopeful of a European push in the medium-term future, but they’re also long-term planning, too.

With that said, according to the Sheffield Star, Everton have just submitted a £1.5m bid to sign Sheffield Wednesday’s teenage striker Celan-Kole Cadamarteri.

Wednesday are desperate to keep Cadamarteri, who has just come off the back of a prolific season in the U18s Professional Development League, netting 24 goals to finish top scorer.

It’s understood that the Owls want a significant upfront fee and a sell-on clause if they’re to sell the 15-year-old.

Cadamarteri has been capped by England’s under-16s, but is also eligible to play for Scotland and Jamaica.

He is the son of former Everton forward Danny Cadamarteri.

Everton face one big problem

Everton aren’t alone in their interest, as Chelsea and Manchester City are also thought to have tabled a bid for Cadamarteri.

In fact, Fabrizio Romano has reported that the Citizens have already agreed a deal and the wonderkid is ready to make the switch.

Wednesday’s local paper noted that no deal had been agreed, so it remains to be seen whether the door is still open for the Toffees.

Either way, it’s certainly a positive that the Friedkins are looking to complete this type of deal, as they’ve been neglected in recent years.
