Marc-Andre ter Stegen finds himself in a tricky situation at Barcelona knowing that Joan Garcia is set to arrive this summer.

The 24-year-old Espanyol star will arrive and is set to take the No. 1 position in Hansi Flick’s team, leaving the current first-team captain in limbo.

There have been suggestions that Barça are prepared to offload the 33-year-old goalkeeper this summer, but the player has been reluctant to entertain such a thought.

Ter Stegen not thinking about exit

Having made it clear that he plans on staying at Barcelona in a recent interview, Ter Stegen reiterated the same stance in a chat with German media ZDF earlier today.

“I know I’ll be at Barcelona next year,” the German international stated.

When asked about the speculations that he has been made available for sale by the Blaugrana, the goalkeeper insisted that nobody from the club had reached out to him about any such development.

“No one has spoken to me about this, and it’s always difficult to comment on everything. I know I’ll be at Barcelona next year,” he added.

Talking about linking up with the German national team for their UEFA Nations League assignment, he added:

“Being here now is great. I see my teammates again, and I finally feel great, being back in the team atmosphere.”

Ter Stegen has a contract with Barcelona until the summer of 2028 and his comments have made it clear that he has no intention of leaving the club as things stand.

As such, Barça will have serious conversations with their club captain in the coming days and explain to him the situation before letting him decide what his next move will be.
