Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes is close to committing his future to the Gunners, signing a new long-term contract until 2030, fending off lucrative offers from Saudi Arabia.

The 27-year-old Brazilian, a cornerstone of Mikel Arteta’s defensive setup, has been pivotal in Arsenal’s recent success, forming a formidable partnership with William Saliba.

The new deal which is set to be announced soon, ensures Arsenal retain one of the Premier League’s top centre-backs despite interest from Saudi Pro League clubs, notably Al-Nassr and Al-Ittihad.

Reports indicate Al-Nassr made a staggering €20-€25 million per year tax-free offer—nearly tripling Gabriel’s current £100,000-per-week wages at Arsenal.

Despite the financial temptation, Gabriel, who joined Arsenal from Lille in 2020 for £27 million, chose to stay loyal to the North London club, prioritising Arteta’s ambitious project and Arsenal’s Champions League aspirations over a move to the Middle East.

His decision mirrors his rejection of similar Saudi interest in 2023, underscoring his commitment to the Gunners’ long-term vision.

Gabriel’s performances have been exceptional, with 42 appearances this season, five goals, and three assists, showcasing his defensive prowess and set-piece threat.

His partnership with Saliba has been lauded as one of the best in world football, providing a solid foundation for Arsenal’s title challenges. Despite a recent hamstring injury, Gabriel remains central to Arteta’s plans, with negotiations led by sporting director Andrea Berta accelerating to secure his future.

Arsenal’s proactive approach to extending Gabriel’s contract, originally set to expire in 2027, reflects their strategy to lock down key players like Bukayo Saka and Saliba.

The club’s firm stance against Saudi interest, coupled with Gabriel’s desire to stay, ensures Arsenal’s defensive stability for years to come. Fans celebrated the news, with posts on X calling it “the best piece of business all summer,” highlighting Gabriel’s importance to Arsenal’s ongoing pursuit of Premier League and European glory.
