Everton are in desperate need of a centre-forward this summer transfer window and have identified several potential candidates to lead the line.

David Moyes was keen to sign Liam Delap and held positive talks with the Ipswich Town frontman, but Chelsea look to have won that race.

Villarreal’s 6ft 5 colossus Theirno Barry is thought to be on Everton’s radar after his impressive debut season in La Liga.

Newcastle United’s Callum Wilson remains an option for Moyes, although, Leeds United are providing competition for his signature.

Perhaps the most concrete number nine target for Everton is Nick Woltemade, and there has now been a fresh development on his situation at VfB Stuttgart.

Everton have golden chance to sign VfB Stuttgart striker Nick Woltemade

Everton are keen to sign a physically imposing striker to lead the line for Moyes next season, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin expected to leave Finch Farm.

Woltemade has emerged as a leading candidate, it would appear, having netted 17 goals for Stuttgart last term.

33 appearances

17 goals

3 assists

West Ham United’s Niclas Fullkrug recently hailed Woltemade after earning a spot in Germany’s senior team for the first time.

Now, according to Bild, the Toffees have been quoted a £16m fee to sign the 23-year-old, which is viewed as an absolute bargain.

They’ll have to move at pace with this deal, though.

Everton face competition for Woltemade

Given his extremely low price tag, it’s no surprise there are a number of suitors lining up to take Woltemade.

Arsenal have already opened talks to sign Woltemade as Mikel Arteta looks to bolster his attacking ranks at the Emirates.

Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich are also showing a serious interest, as are La Liga giants Atletico Madrid.

So, if Everton do manage to pull off a deal, it’d be a real coup and a statement of intent from the Friedkins.
