Liverpool closing in on 21-year-old wide player, medical booked

Chelsea, Liverpool, Newcastle United set to run rule over Hugo Ekitike this weekend.

Liverpool are closing in on the signature of Bournemouth full-back Milos Kerkez, with a medical already scheduled.

According to a report from TBR, Liverpool are within touching distance of completing the signing of Milos Kerkez. The Reds have been in negotiations with Bournemouth for a while now and have finally reached an agreement. They are hoping to complete the final paperwork by this weekend and have already scheduled a medical.

Kerkez hasn’t looked back since joining the Cherries from AZ Alkmaar back in 2023. He had an impressive debut campaign and seems to have taken his game to another level during the 2024/25 season.

The 21-year-old full-back was involved in all their league fixtures and he ended up contributing towards eight goals (2 goals, 6 assists). His performances attracted a lot of interest from across Europe.

Multiple top clubs wanted to sign the young left-back but it seems Liverpool have managed to beat the competition to his signature. They are set to imminently complete the signing of the Bournemouth sensation.

While speaking to TBR about Kerkez’s move to Liverpool, their chief correspondent Graeme Bailey said: “I’m told that Liverpool have agreed all aspects of a deal for Kerkez – his medical is booked in and they hope the deal will be concluded by this weekend.

“I understand Kerkez is very happy to get the deal done – he was contacted by a handful of rival clubs in the last month, but made it clear he only wanted to join Liverpool.”

Kerkez could join Liverpool this week

While Andrew Robertson did a decent job for Arne Slot’s team last season, the Scottish international is already 31-year-old and age is slowly catching up to him. The Dutch manager also has Kostas Tsimikas in his squad but is not entirely convinced with the Greek international’s performances.

Slot is willing to sanction his departure and the club are already looking for a potential destination. They believe Kerkez could compete with Robertson for a place in the starting XI and he could eventually take over from him.

The Reds initially made an offer worth £35 million for the full-back but Bournemouth wanted something closer to £50 million. After long-drawn negotiations, both clubs have agreed on a deal worth £40 million. With the clubs finding a middle ground with respect to the fee, the Merseyside club are hoping to complete a deal by the end of the week.

They are very optimistic about getting it over the line and have already booked a medical for the 21-year-old. While other top clubs were pushing for his signature, Kerkez only wanted Liverpool and it has certainly helped their cause.
