Liverpool have reportedly submitted a bid for Moroccan defender Abdelhamid Aït Boudlal.

The Reds were expected to be busy in the summer transfer market and the early signs point to that being the case.

They have already announced the signing of Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen, and are close to agreeing deals that will bring Milos Kerkez and Florian Wirtz to Anfield.

And now, according to a new report, they have set their sights on signing 19-year-old defender Aït Boudlal.

According to Moroccan outlet Sportle360, the Reds have submitted an offer to sign the Rennes man.

“Liverpool and Newcastle have reportedly already made a move ahead of the summer transfer window,” the report said.

“According to a well-informed source, Newcastle have even met with the player, while Liverpool have reportedly made a concrete offer.”

Interestingly, this is not the first time the Reds are being linked with a move for Aït Boudlal.

Liverpool scouts were reportedly in attendance at the Under 17 World Cup and other youth tournaments to watch the player last year when he was still at at the Mohammed VI Football Academy in Sale, Morocco.

Ait Boudlal joined Ligue 1 club Stade Rennais F.C. last summer before being loaned to Ligue 2 side Amiens until the end of the season last February.

Known for his completeness and dominance in defensive play, he’s described as a tenacious tackler and composed ball handler.

Liverpool’s scouts were recently in Africa, to watch talents at the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.

Youth recruitment is a top priority for Liverpool’s new management team, who have strengthened their scouting and player development staff significantly in recent months.

So far in 2025, the club has appointed a global talent scout, a regional scout covering the Netherlands and Belgium, and two additional scouts focused on other parts of Europe.

In addition, Liverpool has enhanced their loan system by bringing in a loan pathway lead and a loan performance analyst to better manage player development.

Recently, scouts attended an RB Leipzig match and have been monitoring clubs worldwide, including Real Betis and River Plate.
