Manchester City Set to Sign De Bruyne Replacement As Part if Triple Swoop?

[Manchester City](https://bitterandblue.sbnation.com) have reportedly agreed a fee to sign the man who could be billed as Kevin de Bruyne’s replacement in the form of Tijjani Reijnders. The [AC Milan](https://acmilan.theoffside.com) star was named midfielder of the season after scoring fifteen goals and claiming five assists in a dismal season for the Rossoneri and City have apparently agreed a £46.3m fee to bring the Dutch star to the Etihad Stadium.

The Blues saw their talisman midfielder leave the club at the end of the season and manager Pep Guardiola has identified Reijnders as the ideal replacement for the Iconic Belgian.

In his end of season interview, chairman Khaldoon al-Mubarak promised that the Blues would move swiftly to rebuild the team after City finished trophyless for the first time since the 2016/17. And that promise is coming to fruition with the imminent signing of Reijnders.

Although not yet confirmed, it seems like the Dutch star is set to complete the move soon. Speaking to Voetbal International, Reijnders said “The clubs are still in talks. For me it’s wait and see now. The Premier League is a great league, you dream of that as a little boy.”

But City are not about to stop before the Club World Cup, with Wolves left-back Rayan Ait Nouri and Lyon attacking midfielder Rayan Cherki.

It is understood that City have scouted Ait Nouri for the best part of a year and are now ready to make a move for the £40m-rated defender. Cherki is valued at around £35m and has hit 12 goals in 44 appearances for the French side this season.

If the Blues are successful and sign all three, they will need to look at reducing the size of the squad, with up to ten players possibly leaving the Etihad this season. Manager Pep Guardiola has demanded a smaller squad from the club this season. “As a manager I cannot train 24 players and every time I select I have to have four, five, six stay in Manchester at home because they cannot play, explained the manager. “This is not going to happen. I said to the club: ‘I don’t want that.’”
