There is a new update on negotiations between Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen for Florian Wirtz.
Liverpool fans have been inundated with constant updates on Wirtz and the reported move to Liverpool.
There have been constant updates on Wirtz in the last couple of days.
The 22-year-old German international, who registered 10 goals and 12 assists in 25 Bundesliga starts last season, has agreed personal terms on a five-year contract.
Leverkusen’s €150m (£126m) valuation has led to protracted negotiations, with Liverpool’s latest €130m (£109m) bid rejected, though both clubs remain optimistic of bridging the €20m gap through structured payments.
With Leverkusen already identifying Nico Paz as Wirtz’s successor, the deal’s completion appears inevitable.
Fabrizio Romano provided a positive update on the transfer on Tuesday night, while BILD also affirmed that a deal will be struck soon.
David Ornstein also provided even more positive update on the situation on Wednesday. According to The Athletic journalist, talks are ongoing between Liverpool and Leverkusen, despite the demands of the Bundesliga club.
“Bayer Leverkusen want a higher figure, and so if and when Liverpool do edge up, it could well be a British record transfer fee should this get over the line,” the journalist said.
“Where things are now is that this is progressing in the right direction. The talks are ongoing.”
However, German publication Kicker (via @bayer04Xtra), has now stressed that “the negotiations between Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen for Florian Wirtz are expected to continue into next week.”
Wirtz was part of the German national team that were narrowly beaten by Portugal in the semi final of the UEFA Nations League on Wednesday.
The 22-year-old put in a stellar performance and scored Germany’s only goal of the night.
However, his effort was not enough to see German through to the final.

Germany’s Nations League campaign will come to an end on Sunday. It is likely that after that the focus of Wirtz and his camp will now shift to getting the Liverpool deal over the line.
