Manchester United have snapped up Matheus Cunha but have work to do in the pursuit of Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo.

Manchester United’s focus on attacking additions early in the summer transfer window is no great surprise.

Ruben Amorim’s side struggled for goals in the Premier League this past season, hitting just 44 goals in 38 games.

Adding attacking quality is the number one priority and United have agreed to sign Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The Brazilian provides an instant boost for United, but Amorim is looking for further additions in attack.

Reports earlier this week suggested Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo wants a move to United – but there is work to be done.

Manchester United’s Bryan Mbeumo offer falls short

As first reported by The Athletic, United have submitted a bid worth up to £55million for Mbeumo.

That deal consists of a £45million fixed fee, with a further £10million in potential add-ons.

United In Focus understands Brentford intend to reject that offer and the Bees are seeking a deal worth more than £60million.

The ball is back in United’s court as talks continue in an attempt to thrash out a second attacking addition of the summer window.

Mbeumo is under contract until 2026, but Brentford have an option to extend that deal by a further year.

The 25-year-old hit 20 goals and eight assists in 38 Premier League games this past season, producing an impressive campaign for the Bees, as seen below in stats provided by Sofascore.

United ready to commit big wages to Bryan Mbeumo

Mbeumo’s interest in the move to Old Trafford is a major boost for United, but there is work to be done with Brentford.

In terms of a contract with Mbeumo, United in Focus understands United are prepared to pay Mbeumo around £250,000-a-week.

That would be a hefty increase on his current wages at Brentford, similar to how Matheus Cunha will now earn £200,000-a-week at Old Trafford.

Mbeumo could become one of United’s highest earners, but the pressure is now on Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Ineos to meet Brentford’s demands.

Signing Cunha and Mbeumo in the opening stages of the window would be quite the start for United and a huge boost for Amorim after some goal-shy displays from his side.
