New study reveals how much it would cost to sign Yamal from Barca

The CIES Football Observatory has come up with a new study which reveals that Lamine Yamal is the current player with the highest value in world football.

Yamal has just signed a new long-term contract at Barcelona which contains a release clause set at an eye-popping €1 billion.

Yet the CIES’s statistical model says it would cost only €402.3 million (£340m/$460m) to actually buy Yamal now.

“This extraordinary figure is linked to equally extraordinary performances achieved at an age - 18 in July - when most players, even the best, are just starting out at professional level,” says the report.

Barcelona’s teenager tops the chart ahead of Manchester City star Erling Haaland and Real Madrid duo Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappe.

Yamal’s Barcelona team-mate Pedri comes in sixth with a value of €143.7m (£120m/$164m), while teenager defender Pau Cubarsi is 12th on the list but the highest valued center-back at €118m (£100m/$135m).
